A major auction, packed with quality, from multiple important private collections. One of the private collections included comes from the Estate of Alan Conroy. It is rare to encounter a true collector, someone who was driven, perhaps obsessed, to buy art on a grand scale, but who had a disciplined mindset that gave the collection cohesion, and an eye that assured quality. To find that the collector was a former postman, who lived in a modest house filled to the brim with Irish paintings, is unexpected.
Having donated a number of works to the National Gallery and IMMA, we are delighted to offer the remainder of his collection.
