NON STOP DESEDE 600 Lot 30 NON STOP DESEDE 600
Estimate: €10,000 - €15,000
A RARE DS 600 'NON-STOP' SOFA, BY UELI BERGER, ELEANORE PEDUZZI-RIVA AND HANS ULRICH, FOR DE SEDE, SWITZERLAND, 1970s, upholstered in black leather and felt, 20 individual pieces that zip together, 500cm (w) x 100cm (d) x 72cm (h), seat height 40cm (h) The DS 600 is an iconic piece of 20th Century design. Upholstered in a rich and supple black leather this sofa can be twisted and turned so that it can be configured in a number of different positions, accommodating spaces of varying shapes and scales. It can also be broken down and made into a smaller sofas if desired.

A true classic of 20th Century design it earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest sofa with an example that boasted more than 400 connected sections. This version has 20 sections and measures 5m in a straight length.

Resembling a caterpillar or an accordion, the Non Stop sofa is composed of modular sections that are connected with hinges, but can be detached. They can be bent so the sofa forms a C, S, U, or an L. Sections can be removed or added to create a look to suit every taste. Some choose to keep their Non Stops perfectly straight.
