The golden age of Danish design reigned from the 1940s through to the 1960s when designers such as Hans Wegner and Arne Jacobsen came to the fore, but functionalism and simplicity remained at the heart of the Danish aesthetic, working under the slogan "form follows function". Today its popularity is because it is a style that works in both traditional and contemporary spaces. Primarily it has endured because it is design with purpose.
After studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Henry Rosengren-Hansen began his career working for the design firm FDB (Forbrugernes Samvirke). In the 1940's, he founded his own design company, called HRH (Henry Rosengren Hansen). Here, he created several modernist furniture pieces, characterized by clean, functional lines. His creations were widely distributed in the 1950s and 1960s, notably through collaborations with furniture manufacturers such as Fritz Hansen.
His creations have been exhibited in museums around the world, including New York's MoMA and London's Victoria and Albert Museum.

All maximum bids are confidential and not disclosed. The system will endeavor to purchase the lot for you for the least price. Bids are subject to buyer’s premium of 25% (incl vat), with no additional charges.
In the event of a tied bid, the preference will be given to the bid submitted first. The second bidder will receive immediate notification of being outbid.
