Often seen as the last link in a generation of female Irish artists who studied in Paris under Andre L'hote, Barbara Warren is instantly recognisable in her linear character and somber palette. After studying in both NCAD and Regent Street Polytechnic, Warren travelled to Paris and under L'hote learnt to build form through colour. On winning a Purser-Griffith travel scholarship in 1955 which allowed her to travel to Spain, Italy and Ibiza.
