Too late for the catalogue but we received for auction today this fabulous Hughie O’Donoghue, COURSE OF THE DIVER I, an oil on linen canvas, 69″ x 95″ (175 x 241.5cm), dating from 2002. There is a full catalogue note on the website (lot 20A).
You can gauge its size from this photo. Ashy may not be the tallest, but she is in heels! Powerful picture…

The catalogue for our Art Sale on May 17th is printing and can now be viewed online. We are continually bemoaning the difficulty in accessing quality works in the present climate. However, we are pleasantly surprised with the quality of many of the works that have been submitted for this sale. “Cherub”, an original 1953 Aubusson tapestry by le Brocquy is a highlight, though there will be several good ‘market fresh’ pieces by a large cross section of Irish artists, including Robert Ballagh, Hughie O’Donoghue, William Crozier, Barrie Cooke, Micheal Farrell and Tony O’Malley representing the more contemporary section, while traditionalists will like fine examples by A.E, James Sleator, Charles Lamb, McKelvey and William Leech to name a few. We have a particularly strong sculpture section with quality pieces by F. E. McWilliam, Oisín Kelly, Rowan Gillespie and Imogen Stuart among others.
The catalogue will be available from next Tuesday. Interested parties can collect it “free of charge” at our offices in Kildare Street.
Finally on a leisure note I visited Casletown House in Kildare last Saturday. A real delight and the food in the charming original Kitchen is both excellent and very good value!
