Food for thought

Posted on Feb 17, 2011

Thing’s are fairly quiet on the domestic art front at present. The impressionist sales certainly produced astonishing results. Apparently many years ago there was a major charity sale arranged in Dublin & Francis Bacon sent over a painting but it failed to sell! Was it 25 million his small triptych went last week?

An idea for young collectors – form a group of 4, contribute €1,000 or more each per year. I will advise you and we can buy 4 paintings at the start which  you can rotate around your homes. After 5 years we will sell them all and you can divide the proceeds. Any takers?

London Auctions

Posted on Feb 07, 2011

Just back from London having viewed the Impressionist sales taking place this week. To see 300 million pounds worth of art is really something to behold. The quality of the art on view was very special, the auction rooms were pretty impressive as well. The still life by Gauguin in Christies would be my pick for over the fireplace.

I have looked for years for a good value hotel in London. My good friend Aidan Cavey, of Cavey Interiors in Bath Avenue, sent me to the Regency Hotel in Queensgate. It ticks all the boxes at a very keen price.
